Sandilands – Lincolnshire

As someone who loves the sea, choosing to live in the city furthest away from the coast was almost certainly a daft thing to do.

That said, there is something about the fact that a glorious, sandy beach is still only a two-hour drive from mine that soothes my soul, because it means no matter where I go, the sea is never far away.

And while there’s not much I can say about Sandilands – it’s a lovely beach with a row of very British beach huts – it was a treat to discover somewhere so beautiful that I could be by 9.30 in the morning on a quiet Saturday.

The National Trust app and website say that they’re currently converting a disused golf course into a nature reserve (which I suspect is the bit I was supposed to see rather than faffing about on a beach in the March sunshine) so that’ll be a great excuse to go back.

Verdict: A sandy gem in the depths of Lincolnshire, perfect on a sunny day.
