Wenlock Edge – Shropshire

In typical May fashion, it was pouring with rain when I reached Wenlock Edge.

With the stoic words of my mother ringing in my ears ‘there’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad planning’, I pulled on my raincoat and stubbornly checked the information board in the car park.

There are three National Trust walks along the 18-mile limestone escarpment that set off from this car park, and I opted for the shortest one for the second time today (to be fair I had hit my 10,000 step target by lunchtime).

This short walk was literally just 10 minutes through the forest, including a viewing point along the escarpment. I’m sure it’s a very nice view, I just couldn’t see it thanks to the low clouds and thick rain.

It was at this point that I voted that it was time to go home and have a cup of tea and some biscuits. And because I’m the only one on this holiday, my vote is the only one that counts.

Verdict: Probably a nice view, save it for a sunny day.
